I've bought over 40 games for it, all of which I have enjoyed, and no errors. Don't listen to those 1 star fools who claim that it has a 100% breakdown risk, it is by far worth it's money now and definatly did when I bought it then for 200 quid. Graphics - Superb, every game worth mentioning gives me superb graphics from start to finish Memory - Memory cards were a bit expensive, but one can usually hold enough data for 30 or so games Speed - On the newer games it may slow down a bit due to slightly aging components, yet most games I would barely have to wait Backwards compatability - thank god for this feature, I had the PSX before this and it plays every game perfectly. Nelson "Temascos" - See all my reviews (REAL NAME) Fun: I bought my PS2 back at launch day in 2000/2001, and it still works well after all this time, so durability need not be an issue here for me. Technical problems are low too, sometimes it struggles with 10 year old PS1 games though, so that's understandable. Anywaym I remember buying the system by itself for £500 (I'm not kidding btw, so PS3 is pretty damn generous for me), but now it's dirt cheap. It's pretty light too so there's no need to worry about weight, but treat it like rubbish and it will fail on you. The Dualshock controller is also great to use, some games like FPS shooters you need to get the hang of them, but that does not take too long. How fast does it load up? It's not too bad actually, unlike the PS1 most games take less than a few minutes to load, and even helps to load up PS1 games quicker! Something handy when you feel like going retro. So what does that leave us with? The games. Many 'gamers' have hated the titles released on the PS2, and to be honest a fair few are rubbish. But look in the right places and you can find the right games that are fun and innovative, such as Shadow of Collosus, Sky Oddessy, Devil May Cry, Metal Gear Solids 2 and 3, Grand Theft Auto (Personally I think it's overrated, but that's for another time!), and much more. The problem with finding the really great games is that shops most often go for the chart busters, rather than the games that are actually good, but careful hunting WILL reward you with truly great titles that make the PS2 worth buying. Keep it around, and even if you get a PS3, your PS2 games can work the new console. After the massive big release of the Playstation 1, Sony then concentrated on making a brother, evolved and more stronger codenamed: The Playstation 2, and when it was released on 24th November 2000, it went out like yesterdays litter, selling units like you've never seen before! Up to this date now in 2006, the Playstation 2 has currently sold the highest amount of consoles to date at a whopping 106 Million Units worldwide, just barely beating the Playstation 1, which had sold about 100 Million! The Playstation 2 is the console, which you would more or less likely, discuss about with your computer freak friends, since it is so popular and over 1000 games have been produced! The Playstation 2 is also the most likeliness of consoles, you would find in most homes around Earth! However, because of the fact that the early Playstation 2's were released before the Microsoft XBox and the Nintendo Gamecube, the Playstation 2's power source isn't as strong as the other two consoles! This is why, loading times may take a little while longer than the XBox and the Gamecube, and graphic quality may be as not as perfect as what you would have hoped for it to be! But, it has been saved, due to the fact that the Playstation 2, has the ability to play all the Playstation 1/PSOne games, play DVD's, CD's, and is 2-Player Comptatable to all games! My brothers first got a Playstation 2, but I wasn't keen with them at the time, since I was more or less interested in the Gamecube! However, the Playstation 2 had some games on their which did interest me, so I got a 2nd Hand Playstation 2 for Christmas in 2003! My Console Rating: 8/10: Enjoyable, Fair-Play, Thumbs Up My Recommended Games For The Console: Grand Turismo 3 A-Spec, Gran Turismo 4, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath Of Cortex, Tekken Tag Tournament, Tekken 5, James Bond 007: Agent Under Fire, Sonic Mega Collection Plus + And Loads More! My Wish: I'd like to see Sony designing a bundle of Playstation 2 games, which have the top selling Playstation 1 games placed on! For example, you could have a Playstation 2 game, which has Spyro 1, Spyro 2 & Spyro 3 on. Or Crash Bandicoot 1, Crash Bandicoot 2, Crash Bandicoot 3, Crash Team Racing & Crash Bash all in one Playstation 2 game! Final Comments: There is no telling, if the Playstation 3 will whip the Playstation 2 like a flash, but the Playstation 2's career hasn't ended yet! If you are still interested in one of these babies, I recommend you either fork over £25-£40 for one of these original Playstation 2's, or save a bit of cash and use about £70-£100 of it to get the Smaller Model, which I would more or less recommend, since it is the latest, and most devious! All I can say for now about the Playstation 2 is, Fair Play! The minor defaults would be the memory capacity being short if you have alot of games. Also the graphics on some games especially the fifa football(minus the fifa street series) also the controllers are not reliable enough to be worth the money. I must also say about the look of the original ps2 being the most ugly console yet but catching up with the streamlined version and the coloured version, however compared to the x-box 360 which is by far the best console out it is barely in the race against this awesome meachine if your looking for quality and have enough money to spend on games(£44.99-£49.99 RRP) then don't waste your time with this console go for the xbox 360 for sure!!!!!!
